OCLERA, originally known as OCIRRA – Orange County Industrial Relations and Research Association – affiliated with the national organization in 1977. The OCLERA chapter has received numerous national recognition awards, including Outstanding Chapter Awards for 2003 and 2004, as well as continued recognition for outstanding programming and events. The OCLERA chapter has a history of activism, producing many members who have gone on to participate in various levels of the national organization. Marlene Heyser, a former national president, remains an active chapter member and chair of the annual labor law conference. Anthony T. Oliver, also a past president, is also an active chapter member. Sara Adler, a national board member, is past-president of the local organization. Many other chapter members, past and current, play an active role in the national organization and in the labor and employment relations community. One of our chapter’s founding members, Bonnie Prouty Castrey, was recently honored by the national with its first “Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the mission of LERA.
